Working in the mining or construction industry can be a dangerous place if there is not a good understanding of the job. Safety is critical for all and regular training is essential for understanding the machines being worked with or operating to be safe and productive. Excavation, in particular, poses challenges for both employees and equipment. Operating with safety, delivering high productivity, and keeping the people and equipment safe on site even in difficult conditions is of the utmost importance.

TecknoSIM Excavator Simulator is India’s first virtual reality (VR) excavator simulator, enabling training on a range of excavator machines. TecknoSIM Excavator and Shovel Simulator is a realistic replica of an actual equipment and replicates the machine dynamics. It provides the trainees with a safe environment where they can refine their skills and improve their productivity and efficiency. It trains the operators on skills that help them improve productivity operate safely and reduce costs. Skills that can be practiced on excavator simulators include digging, trenching, earthmoving & loading.

The visuals are displayed on the latest VR headset from Oculus and HTC vive. A comprehensive training programme with vocal instructions in multiple languages is designed to enable self-paced learning. Training scenarios can be customised by instructors and allows operators to practice safely on mining operations, as well as potentially life-threatening emergency scenarios. Novices learn to operate a shovel or excavator safely on a simulator before operating the real equipment and experienced operators get a chance to further improve their skills. The simulator can be customised to suit any model of excavator from original equipment manufacturers such as Tata Hitachi, Komatsu, JCB, John Deree, VOLVO, Hyundai, Caterpillar (CAT).

Excavator simulators are being used by TVET, technical training institutes, vocational training centres, mining, construction and agriculture companies to train and skill the operators better. Control familiarisation accident avoidance, productivity improvement and fuel management are some of the benefits of training on an excavator simulator. Some clients include Tata Steel, L&T Engineering and industrial training institutes in India.
